Notes From Gordon: Denial, Fear, Ignorance & Belief
As the old joke goes, denial is not a river in Egypt. But it certainly does flow through the heart of society.
Denial is a manifestation of fear, and fear reigns supreme among those emotions which guide our actions. Denial is right up there with ignorance which is not the same as being uninformed.
To be uninformed is be in a condition of not knowing, which is passive. To ignore, on the other hand, is active. Ignorance is the willful rejection of information.
I hand you a book explaining the truth about what happened to the Twin Towers on “9-11” and you refuse to read it. You prefer to remain ignorant. Why would you do that? Because the truth might disturb and even scare you. And we’re back to fear.
On those occasions when a morsel of truth does manage to infiltrate your mind, you deny that it’s true and continue to believe otherwise. Which leads us to belief.
Belief is the holding to constructs for which there is no factual evidence. You might believe that the Earth is flat; or that NASA conveyed humans (roundtrip!) through the lethal Van Allen radiation belt, landed a guy on the moon, brought him back in good shape and threw him a ticker tape parade; or that global warming is caused by excess carbon dioxide due to backyard Hibachis and bovine flatulence.
There is ample factual evidence to thoroughly disprove these ideas, yet millions of people continue to believe them.
Now we come to the immediate future. Civilization on a global scale is about to be sliced and diced. Our food, our water, the air we breathe and even the environment itself are under attack.
The very nature of money is about to be transformed. Programmable currency along with the elimination of cash will create a system of economic indenture unlike anything ever before seen.
Escalating global conflict will kill millions and redraw international borders, while domestic conflict will very likely rearrange America.
The meteoric progression of AI will eliminate millions of jobs and concentrate wealth into the hands of the 1% to the extent that a few more decimal places may be needed.
To anyone with eyes to see, all of this and more lies in our future. Unless, of course, you’re in denial.
I have written for years that individuals and families who exit the ‘System’ to the extent possible—and well before the trap closes—stand a chance of living a remote and resilient life that is largely independent of the greater culture.
I have also stated that I foresee a future in which liberty bursts out once more. But only, as it always has throughout history, as the result of Herculean struggle.
I founded Gordon Phillips Academy to create awareness, to further actionable education and to create community.
It’s a modest effort. A drop in the bucket. But a lot of drops can create a river. And help us avoid swimming in denial.
